Find Me- Plant Me-Bury Me

"What does it mean to connect with the soil?"

This piece grew out of a desire to connect with the soil after I buried a t-shirt in an attempt to 'let go' of a bad job experience.
I enjoyed the ritual of this and the idea of burying something to let go of it rather than hide or conseal it. When we plant and bury, the action is the same yet the intention is different, as we plant in order to grow or bury in order to forget, hide or let go? Maybe it depends on the relationship we have the thing, feeling that we are burying or planting. I really like the theme of transformation, which is a new way that I am looking at this topic.
I received Arts Council funding in 2012 to develop my practise and this piece, which led to a scratch performance at the Norwich Arts Centre. Since then I have performed it as part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival at the Norwich Arts Centre in 2013 and at Dandifest in 2014.
